Our History

The First Carolina Alumni Chapter was established in the mid 1970s, under the leadership of the late Bessie Raymond Zeigler, Class of 1958, Greensboro, NC, who served as Regional II Vice President of the MVSU-NAA.  Bessie was a long-time schoolteacher and school guidance counselor.  She served as the chapter secretary until she passed in January 2021.

Some of the first members were: the late Gladys Slaughter Hunt, Class of 1957; the late Marva McIntyre Coffie, Class of 1958; the late Charles C. McIntyre, Class of 1960; and the recently deceased Bettye Samuel McClung, Class of 1969.
